Instructure Canvas is the university’s learning management system, or LMS. The cloud-based software is commonly referred to as Canvas. Whether a Delta State course is fully online, blended, or face-to-face, the tools in Canvas are well-suited to enhance teaching and support learning needs.
Logging In
To begin using Canvas, visit myDSU and click on the myDSU portal login button. Next, enter your DSU username and password and respond to your security questions. Once logged in to the portal you will be presented with a list of apps that have been assigned to you. Click on the Canvas app to open Canvas and view your dashboard.
Before You Begin
Check your browser. Canvas runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android. Canvas will support the last two versions of every browser release. The Office of Information Technology strongly recommends that you use the latest version of the Mozilla Firefox browser for best results. You will also need the latest version of Flash to record and view multimedia files.
OIT strongly advises against using Chrome and Edge to access Canvas.

Internet Connection
As with all services accessed over the internet, Canvas requires a dependable and consistent internet connection to function properly. You can access Canvas from any internet-connected device.
Accessing Courses
Courses are available under the Courses menu inside Canvas. The menu will hold current semester courses and/or those courses that have been favorited by the user. Instructors may locate past and future courses by clicking the View All Courses button.
Go Mobile with Canvas App
The free Canvas app puts course content at your fingertips. With the app you can access course files, view activity, and participate in assignments. The app is available for Android, iOS, and Windows’ users. To download the app for your device, you will need to know the Canvas URL for Delta State.
