What is is Okra Alert?
Okra Alert is a an emergency text messaging system which is used to notify the campus in case of emergency. DSU will notify the campus via text in cases of extreme weather, life-threatening incidents on campus, or important immediate changes that affect the entire University.
- Students that provide their cell phone number when applying for admissions are automatically registered for OkraAlert.
- To verify that your cell phone is part of OkraAlert, please visit the MyDSU page and click on log in under MyDSU portal, click DSU Online Services and go to personal information, enroll in OkraAlert.
- The system will only allow the use of one cell phone. If you change the cell phone information, the system will use the last cell phone entered.
If anyone wishes to “OPT OUT” of the system, press X (delete) by the phone number.
All faculty and staff employees will need to enroll into the system manually using the same prompts as listed above.
